ORIGIN: As early as 1975, the grandfather planted Riesling vines for the first time in the meter-thick loess of the Riede Tobel. And for good reason. The Tobel, an old local name for a gully, is exposed to the wind and relatively high on a gently sloping hillside on the Wagram. Cold air flows from the north into the vineyards, which occasionally poses frost problems for us. In normal years, it allows for a long growing season and brings the necessary freshness to produce cool, precise, and puristic Rieslings.
